When is a focused kanban board better than Notion?

Notion can be your whole workspace. If all you need is a place to move cards, that is a lot to carry.

Notion

Flexible, but heavy for a board

  • Kanban is a view on a database
  • Setup means properties and templates
  • Drag and drop can lag on big boards
  • Great for docs and wikis
  • Flexible databases and relations
  • Free for personal use

Zero setup

No database schema, no properties, no view to configure. Open a board and your columns are already there.

One clear view

Cards and columns, that is the whole model. Nothing to switch between and nothing to maintain.

Calm by default

A quiet, minimal interface that stays out of the way, so the board reflects your work instead of your tooling.

Bring your Notion board with you

Switching does not have to mean retyping. Export your board, drop the file in, and your columns, cards, labels and due dates come across.

Export from Notion

  1. Open the database you use as a board.
  2. The three dot menu, then Export.
  3. Choose CSV as the format.

Drop the CSV file in

Sign in, open your boards and choose Import. You match each source column to a card field once, then see a preview of every column and how many cards land in it before anything is created.

Check it, then switch

Card titles, descriptions, labels, due dates and archived cards come over. Attachments, comments, checklists, custom fields and team members stay behind, so keep the old project until the board looks right.

Import is free on every plan. Import a board

When is Notion still the better choice?

Notion is the better choice when your work depends on long documents, linked databases, or a wiki beside the board. EasyKanban is narrower. It gives you a focused place to move tasks through columns, but it is not a replacement for Notion's document and database workspace.

Questions people ask

Can I import my Notion board into EasyKanban?
Yes, and it is free on every plan. In Notion, open the database, use the three dot menu, choose Export and pick CSV. Then sign in to EasyKanban, open your boards and choose Import. Columns, card titles, descriptions, labels, due dates and archived cards come across. Attachments, comments, checklists, custom fields and team members do not, so keep the old project until you have checked the new board.
Do I lose my cards when I switch from Notion?
No. The import shows you a preview of every column and its card count before anything is created, and tells you upfront what will not come along. If something looks wrong you can go back without a board being made.

Skip the database, keep the board

Open a board and drag your first card in the next ten seconds.
